About Melanie

I’m a counsellor with a real passion for supporting people through life’s ups and downs. I was born in Wales and have called a few different places home, including Australia, Spain, Germany, and now the Netherlands. Living across cultures has taught me a lot about change and belonging. Starting over can be exciting and full of possibility, but it can also feel disorienting and lonely. I understand both sides of that experience.

Much of what I bring to counselling comes from both personal and professional experience. Before I trained, I spent years raising my son and supporting my husband’s consultancy business. Those roles taught me patience, empathy, and how to listen deeply, skills that now sit at the heart of my work as a counsellor.

In my sessions, I aim to create a space that feels steady and human. Somewhere you don’t have to hold everything together or have all the answers. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, we begin with what’s here and go from there. Sometimes that means talking things through, sometimes slowing down and noticing what’s happening in the body, and sometimes sitting in silence until something starts to make sense.

I work with people from all walks of life, both here in the Netherlands and abroad. My years of living in different countries help me connect with those adjusting to new places and cultures, but my door is open to anyone who wants to pause, reflect, and make sense of where they are. My time in Australia was especially influential, as it is where I discovered a more holistic way of living that still shapes how I work today. I believe growth happens when we stay curious, listen to ourselves, and allow space for both the mind and body to speak.

I trained at the Academy for Coaching and Counselling in The Netherlands, where I now also teach. Supporting new counsellors as they grow in confidence keeps me grounded and reminds me why I do this work, because real connection changes things.
